The gearbox ratio is the same number as the last three numbers on the ID tag. Rotate the gearbox both clockwise and counterclockwise the same number of turns as the ratio of the unit. Do not be concerned if the gears in your unit seem to roll hard as long as they roll with consistency. Some gear packages roll with more difficulty than others. If you feel more drag is felt in the gears only at certain points, then the gears are not rolling consistently and easily and should be examined for improper installation or defects. You should be able to rotate the wheel or hub of the gearbox by hand. The purpose of the roll test is to determine if the unit’s gears are rotating consistently, easily and properly.
